Ayntab Needlework

On October 25, at 11:00, a master class of Ayntab needlework will be held in the village of Ayntab led by Houri Ipekjian. The aim of the class is to introduce the participants the techniques of Ayntab needlework, to transfer this important knowledge of the forgotten cultural heritage of Cilician Ayntab to the inhabitants of the village of the same name, and to create a cultural bridge between the one of the needlwork, which is one of the symbols of Cilician Ayntab and the New Aintap village.

Houri was born in Aleppo, Syria. Her ancestors are from Cilician Ayntab. She started embroidering 38 years ago, when she was still in Syria, and since 2015 she has been restoring, developing and spreading Armenian needlework traditions in Armenia. Houri's creations include: Ayntab, Urfa, Van, Swaz, Vaspurakan, Tigrakakert and many other types of Armenian needlwork. She participates in many exhibitions and courses and passes on the most famous Armenian needleworks to the new generation.

We invite everyone to participate in this master class. Participation is free, materials are provided by the organisation. The master class will take place on the first floor of Ayntab school No. 1.
